Laura C. – Assistant Administrator
I’ve been a competitive swimmer throughout my school years, and a Master’s swimmer for the past 16 years. As a private swim instructor, coach and mentor for the past 16 years I have been able to share my passion for swimming with many different levels and age groups. In between I’ve taught school and raised four children. I consider myself very blessed to do these things.

I’ve been swimming at the college of Staten Island, under coach Michael Ackalitis, for three years and now I am the current captain of the men’s swimming team. Last season, I was fortunate enough to be a part of a winning season, we were able to become the CUNY champions. I hope we can repeat that this year again. When I am not training myself, I instruct at Avantis. I enjoy the sport and helping others enjoy it as much as I do.

I have been a swim instructor for over a year now, as a job at the South Shore YMCA I have been teaching kids ages ranging three to twelve how to swim proper strokes, how to float in the water, basic swim techniques and many more. I also have been a swim coach for Our Lady Queen Of Peace for about seven years, coaching a catholic swim team with critiques on swim strokes and to become a faster more effective swimmer in the water.
Danielle is a young but experienced swimmer who brings her unsurpassed enthusiasm and love of swimming to Avantis. Danielle is skilled at all four stroke techniques and has shown great expertise in stroke analysis. She has a special passion for working with young swimmers and enjoys imparting the skills and knowledge she has obtained to them. Danielle has qualified and competed at numerous USA Swimming Championship events throughout the east coast. She is currently ranked in the top twenty in three different strokes (Free, Back & Breast) on Metro Swimming’s Top 25 list, reaching as high as #5 in the 100 Backstroke. Most recently she joined USA Swimming’s 2015 Metro Zones Team and has qualified for the Senior Metropolitan Championships at the age of 14. In addition to her work with Avantis, Danielle currently serves as a team captain at Richmond Aquatics Club. Danielle is a current Arista member and will be entering Tottenville High School’s honors program in the fall.
