Any parent who lives near or around water knows just how important it is to teach young children to swim. According to the CDC, there are an average of 10 deaths per day due to accidental drowning, and drowning remains the number 2 cause of death in children ages 1-14. Staten Island is surrounded by water and water related activities are popular in our community. Accidental drowning is a significant risk when engaging in activities such as fishing, boating, and swimming, especially for area children.
Staten Island camps offer water and swimming education in a fun and adventurous environment for children ages 6-16. Children learn to swim through structured training and lessons. They also enjoy fun water activities that build confidence in and out of the water. In addition to swim lessons, children will engage in rock climbing, practice strength and endurance building activities, visit water parks, museums and other NYC landmarks. Children will enjoy healthy 3-course lunches as well as daily snacks. Our day camps provide an enriching and enjoyable summer camp experience while teaching valuable, life-saving swimming skills.
Kids love Staten Island Camp, but so do parents! When your child attends camp, you can rest assured that their time is being spent in a positive environment. Parents can go to work each day knowing their children are learning valuable life-saving swimming skills. The summer break from school is often a source of stress for parents. It can be difficult to find activities to keep children busy for the summer so that they don’t get bored and get into trouble. This is especially true for young teens and older children. The swim camp is a perfect solution for that problem. The program is designed to provide multiple activities and keep the kids engaged and interested in the program. They will look forward to attending and truly enjoy their experiences at Staten Island Camps.
In addition to Staten Island Camps, Avantis Swimming Academy offers day camps in both Brooklyn and New Jersey, as well as adult swim lessons, pool parties for special events and private classes for both individuals and small groups. There is even a sleep away camp located in Glen Spey, NY for children ages 4-16.
